Aon reinsurance reveals UK leadership changes; hires Guy Carp Bermuda CEO

Broker Aon’s reinsurance solutions business has made a new senior hire and a series of role changes within its UK leadership team based in London.

As of Jan. 1, 2019, Bob Bisset will become UK growth leader, overseeing Aon’s nine UK business divisions. In this position, Bisset will work with business leaders across the firm to drive growth across all UK sectors, prioritise Aon’s resources, and guide investments.

Bisset will also be responsible in leading the team’s high potential growth areas of MGA & Programme, Innovations & Solutions and Global Portfolio Solutions businesses, led respectively by Miles Shephard, Kurt Cripps and Andrew Matson.

Peter Stubbings will join Aon in Oct. 2018, replacing Bisset as CEO of Global ReSpecialty with effect from Jan. 2019.

Stubbings joins Aon from Guy Carpenter, where he was CEO of Bermuda for the past four years, and CEO of Continental Europe for the preceding five years. He has also held senior roles at RK Carvill and Willis Re among others.

The three divisional leaders within Global ReSpecialty: Richard Wheeler (non marine property/retro), Tom Wakefield (marine, specialty & composite), and Mark Skilton (aviation) will report into Stubbings.

Furthermore, Tom Wakefield will become COO of Global ReSpecialty with responsibility for developing an integrated client strategy across the property/retro, marine specialty & composite and aviation lines, and Mark Skilton will become vice chairman of Global ReSpecialty. Both will report into Stubbings.

Bisset and Stubbings will report directly to the UK CEO of Aon’s reinsurance solutions business, Nick Frankland.

Frankland commented: “We welcome Peter to Aon at this exciting step in the evolution of our Reinsurance Solutions business in the UK – and congratulate Bob, Tom and Mark on their promotions as we continue to build out a sustainable management model.

"These developments enable us to pursue a strategic growth agenda aligned to the firm’s overarching ethos of bringing the best of Aon to clients as a unified global professional services firm, offering solutions that assist businesses across the entire spectrum of risk, retirement, and health.”
