APCIA refreshes board of directors for 2021

The American Property Casualty Insurance Association of America (APCIA) elected new officers to its board of directors, beginning January 1, 2021.

Greg Crabb, president and CEO of Amerisure Companies, has been elected as APCIA’s new chair, and Alan Schnitzer, chairman and CEO of Travelers Companies, as chair-elect.

APCIA is the primary national trade association for home, auto, and business insurers in the US.

David Sampson, president and CEO of APCIA, said: “We are thrilled Greg will lead APCIA as Board chair beginning January 1. Over the last several years, Greg has demonstrated that he is one of the property casualty industry’s most thoughtful leaders. He advocates for APCIA’s interests effectively and with the greatest degree of civility, statesmanship, and diplomacy.

“Alan has demonstrated his visionary leadership as chairman and CEO of Travelers. He was a great partner in all the merger negotiations that created APCIA and will bring his passion for thought leadership to his role as an APCIA officer. APCIA members will benefit greatly from having Greg and Alan at the helm."

Sampson added: “The insurance industry plays a critical role for policyholders and the economy, and that has only become more pronounced over the past year. As the current challenges persist into 2021, we will continue to work on behalf of the industry at the federal, state, and judicial levels. With the expertise and guidance of our new officers, we will further the industry’s efforts to provide financial security to families, communities, and businesses while participating in the important dialogue to move toward a more inclusive society.”
