ArgoGlobal appoints cargo underwriter

ArgoGlobal, a Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, has appointed Darren Long as cargo underwriter, effective immediately.

Long will report to Jon Hamilton, cargo class underwriter, and has over 20 years of experience in underwriting, having most recently served as cargo class underwriter from Chubb Syndicate 1882.

Prior to this, he served as a development underwriter for CAN Europe.

Long began his insurance career as a claims technician for Lonham Claims & Recoveries Bureau in 1990.

Hamilton said: “I am delighted to welcome Darren to our growing cargo team. He has an exceptional technical understanding of this sector and a network of close broker relationships, which will be invaluable in achieving our ambitions for this class.

“We have set ambitious targets, however, by continuing to recruit underwriters of Darren’s calibre to complement our existing expertise, I am confident that we will realise our goals.”
