Arthur J. Gallagher grows aviation team

Arthur J. Gallagher has appointed industry veteran Chris Hamilton-Cox as director of its aviation department, based within its London specialty division.

Hamilton-Cox will work closely with the 12-strong team to grow the aviation portfolio with a special emphasis on airport liability and business emanating from the AIS Gallagher aviation offices in North America.

“Knowledge and expertise in aviation insurance don’t come much deeper than that acquired by Chris over his highly successful career,” said Ben Pothecary, executive director of Aviation at Arthur J. Gallagher. “His addition to our strong team of specialists, each of which can be considered an expert in their field, will ensure we continue to devise flexible and first-class solutions tailored to the specific risk management needs of our clients around the world.”

Hamilton-Cox has extensive expertise across all areas of aviation insurance on a global basis and is particularly well-connected as a US wholesale specialist, with long-term experience of managing and placing business emanating from North America.

He began his career with Bland Welch in 1971 and most recently held the position of divisional director at United Insurance Brokers where he spent the past five years. He has also worked for extended periods at Benfield Group, Citicorp Insurance Brokers (London) and CE Heath & Co.
