Ascot plucks Arch/Hartford vet for top role in US liability

Bermuda-based re/insurer  Ascot has tapped Arch Capital's leader for healthcare to fill a newly crafted executive vice president role covering US management liability, financial institutions, professional liability and cyber.

Brian Chiolan (pictured) comes to  Ascot with 30 years under his belt chiefly in the professional liability, D&O and casualty roles he will take up at  Ascot. He spent 13 years climbing the ladder at Arch after a nine-year stint at The Hartford and shorter stays at Reliance National and Aon.

Ascot's CEO of US Insurance Matt Kramer commented: “As our organisation continues to grow and diversify its product suite, attracting this level of management expertise is critical to ensure we maintain excellence across our specialty underwriting strategies. Brian is an excellent choice to lead our management and professional liability initiatives due to the depth of his underwriting background, collaborative and engaged leadership style and his enviable track record which make him a great addition to the Ascot US leadership team.”

Chiolan added: “Having spent the large majority of my career overseeing management and professional liability products, I look forward to working closely with the  Ascot executive team in expanding our capabilities and enhancing our offerings to our brokers and insureds.”
