Aspen names chief actuarial officer as part of 'operational, strategic and cultural transformation'

Aspen Insurance Holdings has poached a new group chief actuarial officer from KPMG.

William Miller joins Aspen in Bermuda to replace Andrew Kudera who has left the company.

At KPMG Miller served as managing director for actuarial, where he advised a number of international re/insurers. Before joining KPMG in 2014 he spent 12 years at Chubb legacy ACE, where he was latterly chief actuary for its risk management and foreign casualty divisions.

He has spent 35 years in the non-life sector, having also worked at Travelers, NCCI, Reliance National and at Willis Towers Watson, working as a senior consultant actuary.

Miller takes up his post in Bermuda on July 1, 2021, subject to immigration approval and will report to executive chairman and group chief executive officer Mark Cloutier.

Aspen said it is rebuilding its actuarial function as part of a wider operational, strategic and cultural transformation.

Cloutier said: “With three decades of actuarial and non-life expertise, [Miller] is the right person to support our evolving actuarial function at a time when risk management and pricing accuracy forms a key focus for Aspen to become a top quartile specialty re/insurer.”
