AXA XL pulls more marine talent upstream to top North American post

AXA XL Insurance continues to send its marine underwriters up the corporate ladder, naming a new chief of its US marine business to fill in after his boss was lifted to global management of the line.

Michael Perrotti assumes the role of chief underwriting officer for AXA XL's North American and Bermuda marine business to replace Anne Marie Elder, previously lifted to global chief for the line. His remit covers inland marine, ocean cargo, blue and brown water hull, P&I, as well as excess and primary marine liabilities.

Perrotti joined AXA XL in 2011 and spent his tenure building the inland marine book. His total career path now spans more than 30 years, also including posts at Zurich North America, The Hartford Insurance Group, Travelers, and the Atlantic Mutual Companies.

AXA XL chief underwriting officer for the Americas, Donna Nadeau, commented: “Mike has managed the profitable growth and regional expansion of our Inland Marine business from the ground up. Since joining AXA XL, he and his team have been instrumental in building our regional footprint and developing market-leading Inland Marine products to address construction, motor truck cargo, logistics, and warehousing risks, among others. I'm excited to see him step up into this CUO role and look forward to seeing how he and his team steer continued innovation and growth within our Marine business.”
