AXIS creates new global role for accident & health insurance market

AXIS Insurance, the insurance business segment of Bermuda-based AXIS Capital Holdings, has appointed James Hamilton to the newly-created role of global head of accident & health (A&H) insurance.

In this role, Hamilton will be responsible for leading AXIS Insurance’s A&H business in both the US and international markets. Hamilton will report directly to AXIS Insurance CEO Peter Wilson and will be based in Chicago.

A 30-year insurance industry leader, Hamilton joined AXIS in 2010. He served for eight years as executive vice president and CEO, North America Insurance, for the company’s A&H business unit.

“Jay has built a strong reputation within the Accident & Health insurance market and is a trusted partner to many of our most strategic A&H brokers and clients,” said Wilson. “His appointment to Global Head of A&H Insurance reaffirms our commitment to ensuring we remain a valued partner to our clients and brokers in the Accident & Health insurance market. We look forward to the leadership contributions Jay will make in this new role.”
