Balbinot continues as Insurance Europe president

Sergio Balbinot has extended his mandate as president of Insurance Europe for another year, at the unanimous request of members.

Balbinot, who is the group chief insurance officer and deputy group chief executive officer within the group management committee of Generali group, had been due to step down at the end of a three-year period.

The renewal was voted on at the European insurance and reinsurance federation’s general assembly, which was held in Malta.

“I appreciate the trust the industry has shown in me by extending my mandate as president of Insurance Europe. The insurance sector faces challenges from all sides and so requires strong advocacy in order to ensure both its fair treatment and that its place as a major economic contributor is fully recognised,” said Balbinot. “I think that ensuring continuity at such a crucial time is important to support a strong, united voice for the European insurance industry in European and global debates.”
