Barbican hires CV Starr exec as head of energy

Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Olivier Decombes as divisional head of energy, power and utilities.

Prior to his appointment, Decombes was chief underwriting manager for offshore energy at CV Starr, based in London.

He joined CV Starr in 2010 as regional manager, Europe, for property, industrial risks and CAR and was responsible for establishing its operations across continental Europe within these sectors.

Before that, he worked at Infrassure from 2005 to 2010 and climbed to the position of upstream and downstream regional manager, MENA and Asia.

Prior to the insurance industry, Decombes worked for 12 years at Schlumberger Oilfield Services, where he became vice president and global business development manager.
