Barbican lures Markel exec

Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Mark Sutton as an assistant underwriter within the firm’s marine division.

He will report to Christopher Drake, underwriter – marine insurance.

Sutton joins Barbican from Markel International where he was an assistant hull and war underwriter within the marine division, a position which he had held since September 2008.

He originally joined Markel in 2007 as an underwriting assistant within its underwriting support team.

Drake said: “Mark brings to the role over seven years of underwriting experience primarily in the marine sector. I am confident that Mark will be a strong addition to the team and he will help further enhance service at Box 250 for our brokers. I look forward to working closely with him.”
