Barbican poaches terrorism underwriter from Sompo Canopius

London-based Barbican Insurance Group has appointed former Sompo Canopius executive Charlotte Pritchard as a terrorism underwriter within its malicious acts division.

Pritchard will report to Jessica Johnson, underwriting manager, malicious acts.

Prior to joining Barbican, she was an assistant underwriter, political violence and terrorism, at Sompo Canopius. Pritchard has previously worked for Brit Insurance and in its crisis management division, focusing on political violence and terrorism.

Johnson said: "Our terrorism account is evolving at an unprecedented rate in response to the rapidly changing marketplace. This demands that you are constantly expanding and developing the range of expertise within your team.

"With Charlotte’s appointment, we are bringing on board a proven innovator – someone who has not only established her underwriting credentials in the global terrorism arena, but has also helped develop new tools and capabilities to expand the coverage remit. She is a welcome addition to our malicious acts team."

Pritchard added: “I am excited to have joined Barbican. They have a well-deserved reputation for proactive and responsive underwriting and I am very much looking forward to working with my colleagues to help grow the terrorism book.”
