Beazley hires underwriter from Trans Re

Specialist insurer Beazley has appointed Thomas Moore, formerly of Transatlantic Re, as a specialty lines treaty underwriter in New York.

He will develop Beazley's presence in the surety reinsurance market in the US and Canada.

Moore has extensive experience underwriting surety, credit and political risks insurance and reinsurance in Canada, Asia/Pacific and the United States.

In his most recent role at Trans Re he was responsible for product development and management of the company's Canadian and Asia/Pacific surety and credit portfolios as well as the US credit and political risk portfolio.

Joanne McCann, specialty treaty focus group leader at Beazley, said: "Surety reinsurance is a highly specialized line of business that is driven by disciplined underwriting and strong relationships. As such it is a natural fit within our specialist product portfolio. I am delighted that Thomas, one of the most experienced underwriters of this class of business, has joined the team to grow our presence in this market."
