Beazley poaches XL exec

Specialist insurer Beazley has appointed of Ron Beauregard to head the company's excess and surplus (E&S) property team.

He will be based in the company's Boston office.

Beauregard joins Beazley from XL where he led the company's surplus lines property division. According to Beazley, he was instrumental in creating XL's surplus lines property platform, a strategy that saw the book grow to $75 million in gross written premium from 2011.

He has also has held senior roles at prominent underwriting and broking businesses, including Aon, FM Global and Lexington.

Mark Bernacki, head of Beazley's property division, said: "We see attractive growth opportunities for our E&S property team and I am delighted that Ron will be joining us to spearhead our growth in this critically important market. His deep experience both of brokers' needs and of underwriting opportunities and constraints will be immensely valuable to us."
