Berkshire Hathaway Specialty hires four to boost transactional liability offering

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has expanded its transaction liability insurance lines in the US and Canada, and has appointed Robert Underhill as senior vice president to head this operation.

BHSI has also appointed Dan Crosby as vice president, transactional liability, and Amy Bowman and Michael Brooks as assistant vice presidents.

Underhill has over 15 years of experience in finance and insurance, having most recently served as a partner at Locke Lord. Here he focused on insurance mergers and acquisitions (M&A), insurance linked securities, reinsurance and other insurance transactional and regulatory matters.

Underhill has also held executive roles at Fortress Investment Group, Credit Suisse and American International Group.

Fortin has over 10 years of experience in M&A, having most recently served as vice president and underwriting leader, transactional liability, at QBE.

Bowman has served in numerous legal roles at AIG for more than seven years. She joined BHSI’s legal department in 2014 as counsel.

Brooks has over 10 years of experience in corporate M&A, and was most recently an associate at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel.

Dan Fortin, head of executive and professional lines at BHSI, said: “BHSI has the key attributes that companies value in transactional insurance: expertise, financial strength, capacity, and agility in analysing risks and responding to the exposures of mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

“We look forward to continuing to expand our market presence and our team, with Robert’s experience and leadership at the forefront.”
