Blanc resigns as CEO EMEA of Zurich and chair of ABI after less than a year
Zurich Insurance Group’s CEO Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) Amanda Blanc has resigned with immediate effect. She joined the group in October 2018 from AXA.
Blanc has also stepped down as the chairman of Association of British Insurers (ABI). She officially took the role in October 2018 succeeding Aviva UK CEO Andy Briggs. Blanc was the first woman to chair the trade association since it began life as the British Insurance Association more than 100 years ago.
Zurich said her successor will be announced in due course.
“We appreciate Amanda’s contributions during her time with us, in particular as we drive innovation throughout the business and introduce an enhanced culture of service for our customers. Our business in EMEA is performing well under the strong leadership of our Country CEOs,” said Mario Greco, Zurich's group chief executive officer.
Huw Evans, director general of the Association of British Insurers, said: “Amanda has been an excellent ABI Chair over the last year; energetic, committed and focused on the issues that matter the most. I hope she will continue to play a prominent role in the leadership of our industry over the years ahead.”
