Bluefin hires former Aon exec to build new unit

UK broker Bluefin has appointed a former Aon executive to spearhead developing a new mergers and acquisitions practice in both the private equity and corporate arena.

Jon Higgins joins as head of private equity. He will report to Kenny Hogg, head of Bluefin’s corporate division.

He joins from Acxiom, where he was managing account director of client services. Prior to that, he spent 23 years at Aon in a number of senior roles, latterly as managing director, EMEA, Aon Mergers and Acquisition Solutions.

Higgins said: “Private equity has significant levels of dry powder to deploy into UK businesses and investments from this asset class are essential to the country's sustained economic recovery.

“This matches Bluefin's strategy of helping companies assess and protect their business risks to enable them to focus on their plans for growth. Heading up a new division in the current climate is a fantastic opportunity and I look forward to working with Kenny to deliver our services nationwide via Bluefin’s existing network and capitalising on the opportunities that exist.”

Mike Bruce, chief executive of Bluefin, said: “I am delighted to announce yet another high quality new hire and the creation of a new specialism for Bluefin. Bringing in Jon’s considerable expertise and experience to Bluefin will enable us to further differentiate our offering, which will be of benefit to both our business and our clients.”
