Brit bolsters financial institutions team with underwriter from LSM

Brit has appointed a new underwriter in its financial lines team, specialising in D&O and commercial crime.

Kirstin Simon brings 14 years of industry experience, joining from Liberty Special Markets (LSM) where she has been for the past 11 years, most recently as a senior underwriter in commercial D&O. In her time at LSM, she played a central role in building out LSM’s capabilities and helping to establish it in the commercial crime market.

In addition to her underwriting expertise, Simon also brings broking experience having spent three years at Aon, working within the commercial D&O teams across the UK and EMEA.

Simon joined on April 26 and will report into financial institutions co-heads Benedetta Del Balzo and Ben Phillips. Brit’s financial and professional lines team includes 22 underwriters across D&O, financial institutions, healthcare liability, North American professional liability, cyber and technology and transactional liability.

Jonathan Mudd, managing director, financial & professional lines at Brit commented: “The risk landscape for directors and officers has changed dramatically over recent years, and we’re pleased to be adding Kirstin’s knowledge to our experienced team at a time when we are enjoying good momentum in Brit’s FinPro offering. This will enable us to provide further specialist expertise to our clients whilst supporting our position as a leading market in financial and professional lines. We’re excited to welcome Kirstin to the Financial Lines team.”
