Brit bolsters property facilities unit with Argo and MAP hires

Global specialty re/insurer  Brit has bolstered its property facilities unit with two new hires from Argo Global and Managing Agency Partners.

Joanne Allen joins as flood class underwriter, reporting into Sarah Mendola, divisional director, while Thomas Poynder (pictured) joins as underwriter for transportation, reporting into David Perkins, class underwriter, transportation.

An industry expert with over 20 years’ experience underwriting US property catastrophe, Allen joins from Argo Global. She most recently held the position of class underwriter and head of US delegated portfolio for flood and bank-related P&L for six years. Prior to joining Argo in 2015, she held a number of property underwriting roles at Ark Management Syndicate, Catlin and Wellington Underwriting.

Poynder joins from Managing Agency Partners (MAP), where he held the role of assistant underwriter for international transportation for over two years. He joined MAP in 2016 as an underwriting assistant for motor, having started his career in insurance at Chubb underwriting political risk & trade credit.
