Brit hires Catin exec as marine SVP

Brit, a global specialty insurer, has charged Tom Carroll to launch a marine business for Brit Global Specialty USA.  Carroll will join Brit on May 2, 2016, in Brit’s New York office. He joins the firm as senior vice president, marine.  Carroll joins the firm from Catlin, where he was head of US marine. He will be responsible for building out Brit’s presence in the hull, liability, cargo and yacht lines and brings over 30 years of experience in the sector. The hire is part of Brit’s strategy to expand its regional footprint in the Americas using the agility of the Lloyd’s service company model, with a focus on specialty products that deliver sustainable and profitable growth. Nick Davies, president of Brit Global Specialty Americas, said: “Tom’s hire marks the strategic evolution of our US based property and casualty (P&C) platform in to the marine market, a space where the wider Brit Group enjoys a long pedigree. “The opportunity to deliver dedicated expertise and local service whilst enhancing our existing appetite in the class is compelling. We are delighted to welcome Tom to Brit.” Matthew Wilson, Brit Group deputy chief executive officer (CEO) and Brit Global Specialty CEO, added: “We have a clear strategy to grow our offering and presence in markets in which Brit is able to offer compelling solutions for brokers and their clients.  “Establishing a new marine proposition in the US will help us further build upon our global portfolio in this line, complementing our existing expertise with on the ground service.”
