Bullying is not an option; work together to survive

Companies are “bullying” each other throughout the value chain, and this must be stopped, according to chief executive officer of Doha Insurance Company, speaking in part around the payment of claims in the industry.

Speaking at a panel at MultaQa Qatar 2015, Bassam Hussein explained that this so-called bullying behaviour is getting out of hand and the industry’s image is suffering as a result.

“Around 99 percent of our image comes from not paying claims properly or quickly enough. It’s important to look at how to pay. We must have dedicated courts so that companies not willing to pay must have somebody telling them to pay,” he said.

“I don’t want to sound negative but there are sometimes issues between companies. It’s important to stay away from who you know and focus on what the person knows.”
