Canopius brings Willis COO to help shape future operating model

Lloyd's specialty re/insurer  Canopius has hired broker Willis Towers Watson's chief operating officer (COO) of Great Britain to help shape the company's future operating model.

Kate Roy (pictured) has been appointed as group COO of Canopius. She will assume her role in early 2022 and report to Neil Robertson, deputy chief executive officer.

Roy has over 33-year of experience having worked in broker and carrier organisations as well as an outsource service provider. She joins from Willis Towers Watson, where since 2015 she has held the role of COO for Great Britain and Willis. She has also previously held senior positions at AIG and Capita Insurance Services.

Canopius said Roy has a proven track record of leading and delivering complex and transformational operational solutions in business units across multiple geographies. With a strong client-centric approach and focus on efficiency, she is also a staunch advocate for technological and digital solutions, as evidenced by her involvement on the PPL board since the platform’s inception.

Robertson said: “Kate is hugely experienced across the gamut of global (re)insurance, with a firm understanding of our business and the markets we operate in. Kate will help shape our future operating model and her energy and enthusiasm will be an asset to our positive distinctive culture and will undoubtedly help us realise Canopius’s future ambition.”
