Catlin added to IIS Hall of Fame

Stephen Catlin, chief executive of Catlin Group, has been announced as the International Insurance Society (IIS) 2015 Insurance Hall of Fame Award recipient.

Catlin will be inducted at a gala awards dinner taking place in conjunction with the IIS 51st Annual Seminar at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, next June.

The Insurance Hall of Fame award honours insurance leaders who have made a lasting contribution to the insurance industry, and who are recognized by their peers as successful leaders, innovators and visionaries.

“Stephen embodies the Insurance Hall of Fame criteria: a strong leader with an extra-ordinary business vision and creativity,” said Bernhard Fink, IIS Honors Committee Chair. “In a relatively short period of time, the small company he founded has grown into the biggest syndicate at Lloyd's with operations on four continents - a truly remarkable achievement.”

Michael Morrissey, president and CEO of IIS, added: “Stephen is widely respected for his business acumen and success, and for his many initiatives to better the world in which we live, exemplifying the role and purpose of the insurance industry,” adds. “He has taken a leading role in efforts to increase the recognition of our industry through his emphasis on corporate responsibility and his commitment to youth, education and environmental research.”
