Chaucer boosts its underwriting team with two promotions

Chaucer, a Lloyd’s insurance group, has promoted Ed Lines, deputy head of underwriting and head of property, to active underwriter of Syndicate 1084.

Lines will be responsible for all aspects of the Syndicate’s underwriting.

John Fowle, the current active underwriter of Syndicate 1084, will continue as chief underwriter officer, while Chaucer has promoted Colin Clulow, international property underwriter, to head of property, with responsibility for the division’s strategy.

Fowle said: “We are excited to promote Ed to Active Underwriter. He has been central to the success of Syndicates 1096 and 1084 since he joined Chaucer as a Property Underwriter in 1997. Over almost 20 years, first as Underwriter and then as Property Divisional Head, Ed has taken a leading role in helping to drive the Syndicate forward, and I am sure that he will continue to lead by example in his new role.”
