Chaucer expands political violence team

Specialty international re/insurance group Chaucer has appointed Craig Curtiss as class underwriter and Callum Bennett as deputy class underwriter. They join Chaucer to support the growth of its political violence team, which provides a broad range of war, terrorism and political violence solutions for UK and international clients.

Curtiss has over a decade of political violence experience, including a specialty focus on emerging market business. He joins from IGI Insurance where he was head of political violence. Prior to this he was with Inter Hannover UK.

Bennett joins Chaucer after 7 years with the Axis Crisis Management team, where he wrote product recall, piracy, and kidnap and ransom business.

Andrew Bauckham, head of political violence at Chaucer, said: “I am excited to welcome Craig and Callum to the team. The quality of our people is a key factor in choosing Chaucer as a business partner, and the outstanding knowledge and insight of Craig and Callum across the political violence spectrum will be a great addition to the service we provide for clients and brokers.”

Ed Lines, active underwriter of Syndicate 1084 at Chaucer, added: “We are a market-leader in the political violence space, committed to underwriting expertise, product innovation, comprehensive distribution and a responsive service to meet the evolving needs of brokers and clients. The recruitment of Craig and Callum is a key part to delivering this.”
