Chaucer swoops for AXA XL's McLaughlin to push LatAm expansion

Specialty re/insurance group Chaucer has hired AXA XL's April McLaughlin as new head of Latin America treaty reinsurance. Based in Miami, McLaughlin will be responsible for leading and growing a multi-line reinsurance offering, and build out of Chaucer’s...

...re/insurance presence in the region.

April is a senior reinsurance executive with over 20 years in the industry. She joins from AXA XL, where she was head of Latin America reinsurance. Prior to joining AXA (Catlin), she held senior roles at Partner Re, having begun her career at Lexington.

Nicola Stacey, chief underwriting officer at Chaucer, said: "I am pleased to welcome April to Chaucer. She has a wealth of Latin American reinsurance underwriting knowhow and a great reputation with brokers and clients. Her appointment emphasises our commitment to being a lead market for Latin American risks in Miami, which is now such an important hub for the region."

McLaughlin added: “I am delighted to join Chaucer’s treaty team, and I look forward to working with the teams in Miami and London to develop Chaucer’s Latin American reinsurance centre of excellence for brokers and clients.”
