Chubb admits disappointment following rejection from The Hartford

Chubb has admitted it is “disappointed” after  The Hartford rebuffed its advances about a possible strategic business combination.

“Our shareholders demand of us, and we demand of ourselves, that we remain a disciplined acquiror with an uncompromising focus on the fair value of any institution that we could acquire,” Chubb said in a statement.

The re/insurer highlighted its “industry-leading returns and underwriting performance”, insisting it has “created an unsurpassed franchise in the insurance industry and its most dynamic markets.” Chubb stressed it remains focused on delivering value for its shareholders.
