CNA bolsters commercial insurance leadership

Insurer CNA has strengthened the leadership of its commercial insurance unit with three appointments.

Michael Kirchgessner has been appointed to senior vice president, underwriting for large/complex casualty business. In this role, Kirchgessner will be responsible for implementing underwriting strategies for CNA's large/complex casualty business, and will report to Kevin Leidwinger, president and chief operating officer, CNA commercial.

Chris Thurman has been named senior vice president, underwriting for workers' compensation. In this role, Thurman will lead the strategic direction for the workers' compensation product line, and will report to Julie Stephenson, commercial chief underwriting officer.

Finally, Kelly Walsh has been appointed to senior vice president, underwriting for general liability. Walsh will manage the strategic direction of CNA's general liability product line, and will also report to Stephenson.

"The proven track record of performance, strong leadership and deep industry knowledge of these industry leaders exemplify the strength of our talent," Leidwinger said. "They are well suited to ensure our continued success and serve CNA's customers well."
