CNA Hardy swoops for The Hartford's Phipps has head of claims

Specialist commercial insurer CNA Hardy has hired The Hartford's Michael Phipps as vice president and head of claims for UK & Continental Europe.

Phipps is currently the chief claims officer - international at The Hartford, and has previously held senior claims roles at both Navigators and Chubb.

He is expected to join CNA Hardy towards the end of the first quarter and will be based in London.

Phipps will report to Jalil Ur Rehman, president and CEO of CNA Hardy and Dan Franzetti, EVP head of worldwide claims.

Rehman said: “Mike has a stellar background, and brings strong leadership in both operational and technical claims as well as considerable multi-jurisdictional knowledge which he gained from his time working in the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific insurance markets.”

Franzetti added: “I am thrilled to welcome Mike to our global claims team. He has an outstanding reputation in the international claims market and is an excellent addition to our team.”
