Conifer adds former Swiss Re SVP to board of directors

US insurer Conifer Holdings has appointed Timothy Lamothe, former Swiss Re senior vice president, to its board of directors, as it looks to expand its commercial and personal lines businesses.

Lamothe has more than 38 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry, with particular expertise in the development and implementation of marketing programs throughout the US. Most recently (from 2001-2019), he served as senior vice president for Swiss Re, where he was responsible for direct marketing to over 25 states. Lamothe has also worked at PXRE Reinsurance Company, General Re/National Reinsurance Corporation, AIG, and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.

Lamothe will serve on Conifer’s nominating and corporate governance committee. His appointment follows the departure of Jorge Morales earlier this month.

James Petcoff, chairman and CEO of Conifer, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Tim to Conifer’s Board of Directors. We expect to benefit enormously from his significant experience in the reinsurance industry and his counsel in general.”

Conifer’s Board of Directors also confirmed two committee appointments following its last meeting:  Isolde G. O’Hanlon will join Conifer’s Compensation Committee, and R. Jamison Williams, Jr. will be the third independent Director on the Board’s Audit Committee.

Petcoff added: “We would also like to thank Jorge Morales for his years of service on Conifer’s Board. We wish him the best in all his future endeavors.”
