Cooper Gay Asia hires Willis exec

Cooper Gay Asia, the Asian arm of the reinsurance and wholesale broker Cooper Gay Swett and Crawford (CGSC), has appointed a Willis executive to develop niche product offerings.

Karen Lieu joins as managing director of its Hong Kong business. Based in Hong Kong, she will be report to Stephen Britten, Cooper Gay’s regional managing director, Asia Pacific.

She will develop the company’s product offering, including the development of niche financial risk and employee benefit products for the region.

Lieu joins from Willis International where she was head of global solutions in Asia and brings over twenty three years of insurance industry experience to Cooper Gay. Previously, she was at Marsh Hong Kong, leaving the company as chief executive & managing director.

Britten said: “It is our intention to broaden our business offering in Hong Kong with particular focus on the currently underserved small and mid-market retail businesses in the region. As a niche retail and general reinsurance broker continually responding to our client’s specific requirements, we are keen to be able to provide a wide range of viable solutions to the challenges smaller companies face purchasing this kind of cover.
