Davies unveils new initiative to attract talent to insurance industry

London-based insurance service provider  Davies has launched a new initiative to help attract talent to the insurance industry.

With many insurers finding it challenging to recruit and retain talent, Davies’ Insurance Skills Bootcamp has been designed to develop learners with the higher-level skills that the insurance community needs to meet its recruitment and talent requirements and provide individuals with the building blocks they need to achieve long-term success.

The first bootcamp launches on November 28, and aims to develop budding learners on the insurance landscape, time management, rapport building, and presentation & interview skills, with the view to get a job in the industry after completing the ten-week programme.

Fully funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA), Davies’ Insurance Skills Bootcamp is open to anyone aged 19+, who is currently unemployed and living in Greater London.

To develop learners’ insurance knowledge, Davies said it has included two elements from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII); CII Foundation Insurance Test & CII IF1 – Principles of insurance as part of the bootcamp. Achievement of these two units will allow progression to a reduced duration Insurance Professional Level 4 apprenticeship, skipping the Level 3 Insurance Practitioner programme entirely.

Carolyn Blunt, growth & client success director at Davies, said: “The bootcamp is an excellent opportunity for our insurer clients to access a pool of diverse talent to recruit into their apprenticeship programmes.

“Traditionally, people tend to either fall into insurance or are guided into it by family members. A downside of this is that, as an industry, it lacks some diversity, and that’s something we at Davies are really keen to help change and modernise. I’m looking forward to seeing how the bootcamp will help our clients attract a diverse talent pool, including candidates with protected characteristics and those facing barriers to employment.”

Lisa Williams, corporate development manager, CII said: “The CII is delighted to be able to support Davies with their Bootcamp initiative; providing learning material on how the insurance market operates and the key insurance principals. Those selected for the Bootcamp will enjoy the benefits of CII Membership and hence access to our e-mentoring platform, networking opportunities and FutureMe content with a focus on career development.”
