Deutsche Rück boss quits; hunt starts for successor

Arno Junke, the chief executive of Deutsche Rück and the Association of German Public Insurers (VöV), has left both positions as of December 31, 2017.

In a statement, Junke and the companies' supervisory bodies said both parties have reached an amicable agreement to end their collaboration.

Junke has been working for Deutsche Rück and the Association of German Public Insurers since September 2008. Until further notice, the position of CEO will remain vacant.

In almost a decade at the Germany reinsurer Junke, lacking the pressure of having to seek growth, had steered a fairly conservative course in often tricky market conditions.

“The companies' supervisory bodies would like to thank Arno Junke for his outstanding commitment and the success of his work over the past ten years, and wish him all the best and every success for the future, both professionally and personally. Arno Junke remains available to the companies in a consulting role,” the statement said.
