Dual appoints European COO

Dual, the underwriting arm of Hyperion Insurance Group, has appointed Phillip Oldcorn as chief operating officer, Europe.

In this new role, Oldcorn will lead and oversee the development of Dual corporate risks, including financial and professional lines, along with Dual’s expanding European accident & health business.

Oldcorn, who will report directly to Shane Doyle, chief executive officer and group chief underwriting officer of the Dual group, will also have responsibility for Dual’s European business development and operations functions, and will work closely with the group’s finance and risk & compliance teams.

In addition to his role in developing the capabilities of Dual’s European hub, Oldcorn will continue to lead Dual asset underwriting as managing director.

Oldcorn joined Dual in 2013 from First Title Insurance to launch Dual asset underwriting, the group’s asset protection division.
Doyle said: “Phil has a proven track record in building successful, client-focussed enterprises in the UK and internationally, and this appointment brings additional strength and depth to our European operations, as the business enters the next phase of its development.

“We have diversified significantly as a group over the last two years, including in the UK and Europe, to the extent that Financial Lines now account for less than 50 percent of Dual’s UK business. Attracting the best talent in the market to develop our capabilities has been a major part of this transformation and, with Phil’s commercial experience and dedicated focus, we will continue to develop Dual’s European hub, delivering more for clients as a result.”
