Ecclesiastical adds to management board

Specialist insurer, Ecclesiastical, has appointed Ray Cox to its group management board as of August 1.

Cox has 37 years’ insurance industry experience and has previously held several senior roles, most notably as UK CEO of Brit Insurance and UK director of underwriting and risk at Royal & Sun Alliance. He recently left QBE where he held the position of chairman UK and Ireland National.

In his new role Cox will be responsible for developing a consistent underwriting framework across Ecclesiastical and for strengthening the Group’s underwriting capabilities across all its businesses, both in the UK and overseas. The newly created position will report directly to the Group CEO Mark Hews.

“I am delighted that Ray is joining Ecclesiastical in this newly created role, said Hews. “His extensive industry and underwriting management experience will be a great addition to our existing team. Ray brings a unique combination of leadership, underwriting and risk management skills to the business.”

Cox added: “Ecclesiastical has a unique heritage and an outstanding reputation in its specialist areas. I’m looking forward to working with the team to build on these specialist credentials and further enhance the service we offer to brokers and customers alike.”
