Endurance Specialty Holdings, the Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer, has appointed Christopher Gallagher as chief risk officer and group actuary.
Gallagher will take on responsibility for the company's corporate risk management function, succeeding Joan deLemps who announced her intention to retire from Endurance earlier this year.
Gallagher joins Endurance from AXIS Capital where he served as chief risk officer for the AXIS Insurance segment since 2007. Prior to that, he was a senior manager with Ernst & Young.
John Charman, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Endurance, said: "Having worked closely with Chris before, I am delighted to welcome him to Endurance and our management team. His expertise will be extremely beneficial as we continue to enhance our risk framework and practices to support the increasing scale and complexity of our organisation.”
Gallagher’s appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.
