Aegis raids AIG to rebuild cyber offer after eight-year hiatus
Lloyd's insurer Aegis London nabbed two cyber talents from rival AIG in a bid to resuscitate a cyber portfolio at Aegis after an eight year hiatus.
Daniel Johnson steps in as class underwriter for cyber and is joined by Lydia Lambert as cyber underwriter. Both join AEGIS London from AIG. Johnson will report to Ben Lockwood, AEGIS London’s head of specialty underwriting.
Johnson most recently served atop AIG’s UK cyber and technology team having spent most of his 11-year insurance career with AIG, with a brief interruption for a tour at broker Aon.
Lambert worked alongside Daniel at AIG holding a range of cyber underwriting roles before becoming major accounts cyber team leader.
Ben Lockwood, Aegis London head of specialty underwriting, said: “In Dan and Lydia, I believe we’ve found the right individuals to craft a sensible, robust and profitable cyber portfolio for AEGIS London that’s sustainable across the insurance cycle. Although we’ve not had a dedicated cyber team since 2015, we’ve been watching the market with great interest, in part because we’ve been involved in a number of cyber binders and consortia. We feel now that the market’s matured, learned some hard lessons and begun to find some sort of equilibrium as an important part of the wider Lloyd’s market. Underwriters’ ability to assess price and aggregate risk has also come on by leaps and bounds, which gives us confidence in the class.”
