Eqecat’s Keogh moves to TigerRisk
William (Bill) Keogh, the president of risk modelling firm Eqecat, has joined TigerRisk Partners, the reinsurance broking and risk/capital management firm founded by industry leaders Jim Stanard and Rod Fox. He will become a member of the company’s Decision Support Team.
Speaking to Intelligent Insurer, Keogh said he is looking forward to working more closely with clients at a time when the way risk models are used by the insurance industry is at an inflection point. He added that the client-focused model operated by TigerRisk will allow him to do this and make a difference to clients on the ground.
“When I was first involved with risk models they were really nothing more than experiments,” said Keogh, whose career prior to Eqecat has included holding senior positions with AIG, NAC Reinsurance, Swiss Re and Risk Management Solutions.
“The industry then adopted the models, sometimes almost in an unquestioning way. That has now changed again to the point that risk models represent a cornerstone for most insurers and reinsurers but there are now very sophisticated levels of analytics on top of this.”
In his new role, Keogh will help clients with innovative ways to use TigerRisk’s sophisticated analytics approach to find capital solutions to mitigate property-catastrophe risk.
“One thing I have admired about TigerRisk is the way its founders have been so innovative in helping their clients make better decisions around their risk and capital requirements. This process is becoming ever more sophisticated and I am looking forward to working with clients on the ground to make better decisions based on the models and the analytics that can be applied to these results.”
In his new position, Keogh will report to Jayant Khadilkar, himself a pioneer in the field of catastrophe risk solutions. “Bill brings with him a unique set of talents: leading-edge analytics and technology expertise, years of experience in identifying and mitigating risk, and the ability to communicate with clients on various levels,” said Khadilkar. “He will make a great contribution to our team.”
