Ethos hires head of property from Liberty International

Ethos Specialty Insurance Services, the US managing general agency and a subsidiary of Ascot Group, has appointed Michael Carr as head of property.

Prior to joining Ethos, Carr was the senior vice president responsible for the E&S property product line at Liberty International Underwriters (LIU), which he started in 2010. Prior to LIU, he held various leadership roles at Max Specialty, Crum & Forster, ACE Westchester and AIG.

Michael Sillat, chief executive officer of Ethos, said: “Michael represents a key hire for Ethos as we build out our underwriting business units. His extensive underwriting knowledge and deep-rooted relationships in the property arena will be a formidable combination.”

Carr commented: “I am truly excited to be joining Ethos and building out a comprehensive wholesale property platform enabled by talented underwriters and a state of the art infrastructure. I look forward to leveraging Ethos’ existing property expertise alongside Rory Cline and John Casella to deliver a broad set of underwriting solutions for the US property market.”
