Everest Re appoints new deputy chief underwriting officer for reinsurance

Bermuda-based Everest Re Group has promoted Sharry Tibbitt to deputy chief underwriting officer for the reinsurance division.

In her new role, Tibbitt will report to Chris Downey, chief underwriting officer for the reinsurance division. Together, they will work closely with leadership across the division to guide and manage the overall reinsurance portfolio, while developing profitable areas for growth and continued diversification.

Tibbitt has more than two decades of industry experience, and has held numerous roles at Everest over the past nine years, including senior vice president of property and specialty and vice president of treaty underwriting. Since joining Everest in 2011, Tibbitt is said to have been instrumental in building out a profitable treaty property book, and was integral in the launch and implementation of the division’s new internal underwriting platform.

John Doucette, president and CEO of the reinsurance division, said: “Sharry is committed to the continuous improvement of Everest and continually strives to advance the organization through a ‘lead by example’ mentality. Over the past few years, she has been pivotal in planning the strategy and execution of transitioning Everest onto a more modern, comprehensive underwriting platform, which has been revolutionary for the group. I am confident that by leveraging Sharry’s seasoned underwriting expertise and leadership acumen, Everest Reinsurance will realize many new opportunities in the years ahead.”
