Fidelis taps Brit's Bob Clarkson to develop selective and profitable marine account
Bermuda-based Fidelis Insurance has hired Bob Clarkson to join its Fidelis Underwriting (FUL) London underwriting team as part of the group’s strategic initiative to further develop its focused offering of specialty insurance products.
Clarkson has 30 years’ experience in the marine markets. He was most recently class underwriter for marine hull and war at Brit Insurance, having previously worked at QBE and Lloyd’s Claims Office in both underwriting and claims roles.
Rich Coulson, executive head of bespoke and specialty insurance, said: “Fidelis recognises that there are strong niche opportunities in the Specialty lines, and to be successful in originating and underwriting those we need high calibre and experienced individuals. Bob clearly has the relationships and technical acumen to help us develop a selective and profitable marine account.”
Clarkson added: “I’m excited to be joining a company that already has a significant London market presence and a strong focus on broker and client service and responsiveness. Working with Richard Brindle, Rich Coulson and the FUL team I look forward to developing the Fidelis brand and reputation within the marine sphere. The collegiate underwriting approach and lack of silo underwriting will also allow me to offer some of Fidelis’ innovative bespoke products in financing and balance sheet relief to the marine market clients.”
