Former Ageas Kwik Fit operations director becomes COO at UK firm

The former operations director at Ageas (Kwik Fit Insurance) Alan Brown has joined Consumer Intelligence, a Bristol-based market research agency that focuses on the insurance and banking sectors.

In January, Ageas UK closed down its Kwik Fit Insurance Services Uddingston office in Lanarkshire, Scotland with the loss of more than 500 jobs.

Brown has been appointed to a newly-created role of chief operating officer (COO) at Consumer Intelligence, where he will take charge of day-to-day operations from chief executive Ian Hughes and managing director Martin Coates to focus on the firm's strategic development.

In his new role, Brown will be responsible for overall achievement of the operating plan working with marketing, client facing, service delivery, viewsbank and HR departments reporting to him.

Hughes will focus on building new business propositions including the new advisory business, while Coates will become vice chair and take responsibility for governance and long-term planning as well as the consumer business.

"I am thrilled by this appointment and the capacity it will give us to grow the business even more," Hughes commented. "We are expanding rapidly and Alan’s support will help us achieve our ambition to be a global partner helping our clients to see the world through the eyes of their customers."

Brown worked for nearly 21 years with Ageas (Kwik Fit Insurance) during five changes of ownership after joining as a sales manager in 1996 and ending his time with the company as operations director.

Brown said: "Consumer Intelligence has great people and I look forward to helping them and the company to reach its capacity. There is a huge opportunity for Consumer Intelligence to grow and achieve its goals."
