Former Lloyd’s, XL Catlin leaders join London market consultancy r10

London insurance market based consultancy r10 has appointed two senior executives, including a former Lloyd’s modernisation leader and a 25-year industry veteran from XL Catlin, to strengthen its strategic advisory capabilities to tackle market challenges.

Hélène Stanway (pictured left) and Paul Willoughby (pictured right) will join r10’s new executive strategic advisory team, which currently includes chief technology officer Chris Hendry and executive director John Taylor.

The combined experience of well-known market leaders Stanway and Willoughby covers digital transformation across emerging technologies, innovation, operations, data, business strategy and planning.

r10 hopes the new advisors will boost its capability to understand, address and advise clients on their strategic direction and tackle market challenges head on. The company’s list of clients include re/insurers such AM Trust, Beazley, and QBE.

Stanway has more than 25 years’ experience of emerging technologies, innovation, digital transformation, operations and data. She spent 17 years at XL Catlin where she held many senior roles including global head of operations – specialty and chief of staff to COO. At AXA XL she was then VP, global head of technology innovation, followed by a Lloyd’s role as market engagement & adoption lead & interim data lead for Future at Lloyd’s.

Willoughby brings more than 25 years’ insurance expertise across digital transformation, innovation, operations, business strategy and planning. He spent the past nine years at Beazley in a variety of senior roles, including head of strategy & insight - corporate development and head of digital ventures. Prior to that, Willoughby led a number of market modernisation projects at Lloyd’s.
