Martin Senn, former chief executive officer (CEO) of Zurich Insurance, has committed suicide six months after leaving the company.
Zurich confirmed the news in a statement on its website.
It said: “With the passing of Martin, we lose not only a highly valued former CEO and colleague but also a close friend. Our thoughts are with his bereaved family and friends, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies.”
The 59-year-old left the firm in December 2015 following issues with the company’s general insurance business, as well as a failed bid to take over RSA.
His death comes follows the suicide of Zurich's finance chief Pierre Wauthier in August 2013.
