Fusion enters Australian financial lines market with Damian Lynch

Australia-based specialty insurance MGA Fusion Specialty has appointed Damian Lynch as managing partner of financial lines.

Lynch has also been appointed as a partner in Fusion’s M&A insurance MGA.

In his new role, Lynch will focus on providing financial lines expertise, capacity and a technology enablement in support of long term distribution partnerships, initially in the Australia and New Zealand markets.

With over 25 years of experience as a financial lines leader and underwriter across the Asia Pacific region, Lynch’s expertise spans directors and officers (D&O), financial institutions (FI), transactional risks, professional lines and cyber products.

David Rogers, Fusion’s Co-founder and executive partner and head of M&A, said: “I am delighted that Damian has joined our partnership. The timing is right for a new entrant in the Australian financial lines market, with Fusion FL offering a differentiated proposition in demanding conditions. Damian is widely recognised as the leading financial lines underwriting expert in the Asia Pacific market and brings a wealth of knowledge from his experience of managing these specialty products across market cycles. Damian is therefore ideally positioned to better serve our broker, clients and insurance company partners.”

Killian McDermott, Fusion’s co-founder and executive partner added: “Fusion’s MGA Platform is designed to support leading entrepreneurial underwriters who use their expertise and experience to build unique specialist insurance businesses that drive real change in our sector through a unique combination of people and technology, delivering a better insurance experience for our distribution partners and their clients. Damian has all the capabilities to lead Fusion FL and I am very pleased that he has joined us.”

Lynch commented: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to join Fusion, a nimble, innovative and technologically driven organisation. I believe that Fusion’s culture and capabilities position it extremely well to benefit all of its partners and stakeholders in the current difficult market environment. I look forward to working with my new partners to drive the Fusion Financial Lines business ahead.”
