Gallagher buys Atlas General Insurance

Global insurance broker  Arthur J Gallagher has acquired San Diego-based programme manager and managing general agency (MGA) Atlas General Holdings for an undisclosed amount.

Atlas offers workers compensation, commercial lines and specialty property programmes nationwide, with expertise in the California workers compensation market. The company was founded in 2009 by Bill Trzos.

Following the deal, Mike Mathews, Charles Lasher and their associates will remain in their current location under the direction of Joel Cavaness, president of Risk Placement Services (RPS), Gallagher's US-based wholesale brokerage division.
