Gallagher sues Alliant over ‘orchestrated’ staff poaching

Global broker  Arthur J Gallagher has filed yet another  poaching lawsuit against intermediary services provider Alliant for stealing eight Chicago employees as part of an “orchestrated” corporate raid.

The lawsuit filed in US Illinois Northern District Court claims that on July 11, three  Gallagher employees who worked together on “several important accounts” informed the company that they were resigning “effective immediately” despite having signed an employment agreement requiring them to provide 21 days of written notice of resignation.

They were followed by five additional  Gallagher employees over ensuing days, the lawsuit said, who purported to resign to join Alliant Insurance Services, “effective” the same day as their notice to  Gallagher.

The suit accuses  Alliant of engaging in a corporate raid of its Chicago office, and a scheme to poach employees and clients from  Gallagher.

“These abrupt and coordinated resignations were orchestrated by Alliant as part of a scheme to steal  Gallagher's clients before  Gallagher could take contractually-protected steps to protect its business interest, including its clients relationships and confidential information,”  Gallagher stated.
