Guy Carp hires Goldberg Segalla exec

Guy Carpenter has appointed James Wrynn as managing director and vice-chair of strategic advisory in the US.

He joins from Goldberg Segalla, where he served as partner in its global insurance services practice group. Guy Carpenter is a client of the law firm.

Before joining Goldberg Segalla, Wrynn served as New York State’s Superintendent of Insurance. Prior to that, he was the executive director of the New York State Insurance Fund.

“Jim has been a thought leader in terms of our brand and growth. We now have a first-rate insurance regulatory practice poised to serve the industry for years to come,” said Richard Cohen, Goldberg Segalla’s managing partner. “He will, no doubt, bring vision and opportunity to Guy Carpenter.”

Wrynn said: “When I left my position with New York State, joining Goldberg Segalla was the obvious choice. The firm is all about clients and people first. I’m extremely proud of what we accomplished over the past three years in building the top global insurance practice, and I’m looking forward to maintaining my deep friendships at the firm as I take this next step.”

Daniel Gerber, co-chair of Goldberg Segalla’s global insurance services practice group, added: “Jim has been working with Guy Carpenter on its strategic initiatives throughout his tenure at Goldberg Segalla, so we were excited for him when this opportunity arose. We wish him nothing but the best in his new endeavour, and are eager to work with him in this new dynamic.”
