Guy Carpenter unveils swathe of senior leadership appointments to integrate JLT Re

Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has made a series of international leadership appointments to facilitate the integration of JLT Re and execute an effective structure to help drive profitable growth in the future.

Guy Carpenter’s parent company Marsh & McLennan has recently completed its acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), and is in the process of integrating JLT's clients, colleagues and capabilities within its business units.

In the London North America segment, the reinsurance broker has appointed Kevin Fisher as chairman, in addition to his previously announced role as chairman of UK and Global Specialties. He will continue reporting to Peter Hearn, president & CEO of Guy Carpenter.

Within global capital solutions business, which is comprised of GC Securities and global risk solutions, Vicky Carter has been appointed chairman of global capital solutions, international.

Furthermore, Bradley Maltese has been appointed to the role of vice chairman of global specialties, reporting to James Boyce, who will continue in his role as CEO of the unit. Each global specialties segment will have a leader reporting to Boyce, as well as a senior leadership team.

Marine & energy will continue to be led by Jim Summers. The senior leadership team will be comprised of Graham Devlin, Nick Jay and Martin Stephenson.

Aviation & aerospace will continue to be led by Ian Wrigglesworth, with senior leadership team including Graham Barden, Paul Smith, Barry Stiff and Martin Stoney.

Non-marine specialties team will include Bill Bennett, Richard Carver, Paul Esterbrook, Stephen Firmin, Roland Morse, Simon Sharpe and Dean Smith. It will continue to be led by Richard Morgan.

Trade credit & political risk will be co-led by David Edwards and Ashley De Laroque. While Edwards will focus on the production and servicing of international clients working closely with the wider international platform, Laroque will focus on the production and servicing of London market clients.

In the international segment, James Nash will continue in his role as CEO, reporting to Hearn.

The company will create a new combined unit, co-led by Carolyn Morley and Ian Kerton, bringing together the capabilities of the global casualty and UK property & casualty teams. Jonathan Fahie has been appointed chief operating officer for this unit.

Morley will lead the global casualty business, and Kerton will lead the drive for growth in the London market, and maintain responsibility for South Africa.

The Asia Pacific business will continue to be led by Tony Gallagher as CEO, with Jeremy Fox becoming the chairman.

Charles Whitmore and Shaun Scade will continue in their respective roles of head of the placement solutions group and head of accident & health.

Also, Massimo Reina will continue in his role as CEO of Continental Europe & Middle East.

All these business units and leaders will report to Nash.

The Latin American senior leadership team will be composed of Roberto Calderon, Pedro Farme, Erik Lakatos and Anthony Mirabal. They will be tasked with the integration of JLT Re clients and colleagues, the production of new business and the servicing of existing clients.

Aidan Pope, CEO of Latin America & Caribbean, has announced his plans to retire from Guy Carpenter. He will stay for a transitionary period to ensure the successful completion of the renewal season and the transition of leadership.
