Hardy appoints chief financial officer
Hardy, a specialist re/insurance underwriting business, has appointed David Stevens as a board director and as chief financial officer for the Hardy group of companies, effective immediately.
Stevens is currently chief financial officer for CNA Insurance Company (CICL or CNA Europe) and will continue in that role. He will report to John Hennessy, CICL CEO and Barbara Merry, Hardy CEO.
Stevens joined CNA Europe in October 2007. He has a proven track record as a chief financial officer and has held numerous finance roles including leadership positions at Chubb and ACE. Stevens began his career as a senior audit manager for Ernst & Young.
Stevens replaces Jamie MacDiarmid, who announced his resignation earlier this year. He will remain with Hardy for a period to assist Stevens with the transition into his new role.
“David’s expanded responsibilities are a reflection of his strong financial and strategic leadership skills and his dual role will allow him to provide consistent financial management across the enterprise,” said Tom Motamed, chairman of the Hardy board of directors and chairman and chief executive officer of CNA Financial.
He also expressed his thanks to MacDiarmid. He said: “Jamie has been a valuable and trusted member of the Hardy management and board for ten years. We are grateful to him for the service he has provided.”
Hardy and CICL are both wholly owned by CNA Financial Corporation.
